Let's not get crazy, now...
Mr. Hewitt led me to a critique of a cartoonist from the St. Louis Post-Dispatch who referenced a classic Bill Mauldin cartoon. I think conservatives lose credibility too often when we slap people around just because they're liberals. So I commented on his post: "Hmmm... the guy may be a ranting liberal cartoonist, but I think in this case the criticism is misplaced. If Shakespeare is referenced in a novel it doesn't need to be footnoted. I'm not a huge political cartoon afficionado but I recognized the reference, even if I didn't know the name of the original cartoonist. Blasting away at liberal targets on marginal stuff discredits the legitimate criticism on the cry wolf principle."

Cato, it was more of a focus on a cartoonist who broke the rules, than whether it was a liberal media attack. Matson is a raving liberal no doubt, but it was plagiarism that was the point....I understand your point, but you don't have to read Matson's comic every day. This guy needs to be held accountable..............Steve
Yes, it can be very annoying when patently ridiculous positions are on the editorial page of your local paper every day... but that's msm for you. My comment was a reaction within the context of a blog that is a response to the liberal media. My central point, disguised as it was, was that there is a difference between plagiarism and art that references another's art. I don't think he was breaking the rules in this case, although he wasn't following convention, either.
